While the other ingredients are used as a ‘vegan egg’ we use two sustainable and nutritious flours as the stars of our pasta:

Lupin beans

(sometimes known as ‘lupini beans’)  were part of the diet of the Ancient Egyptians and the Romans. It is believed lupin beans have been cultivated as far back as 2000 BC.

Unique among legumes, these beans contain much higher amounts of protein and fewer carbohydrates. Their unique point in this regard is that they contain almost no starch. Despite this, most of the carbohydrates that lupin beans contain are prebiotic fiber, and the beans are considered a rich source of oligosaccharides. Lupin beans are also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, particularly manganese, copper, and folate, as well as a range of polyphenols, including flavonoids and phenolic acids. Lupin beans are considered one of the best sources of plant protein.

*In a study done by the Allergy Vigilance Network with 5,366 patients allergic to peanuts, 17% were cross-reactive with lupin. The FDA does not require that lupin be listed as an allergen.

Hemp Hearts

have the highest level of protein digestibility from a non-allergenic source. They are a good source of polyunsaturated and essential fatty acids. They have about a 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3, which is considered in the optimal range.

FAQ

We named our product JaziLupini because our main ingredient, lupin, is a healthy way to jazz up your daily diet and make your tastebuds dance.

Legumes (or beans) are known to have undesirable digestion properties, but lupini beans have lower levels of undesirable constituents such as phytic acid, trypsin inhibitors, and lectins and saponins compared to other legumes. So in short, JaziLupini pasta is much easier to digest than chickpea pasta, lentil pasta and soy pasta.

The shelf life of JaziLupini is comparable to regular pasta, about one year, as long as it's kept sealed in a dry container.

For all pasta (except lasagna) cook in very hot and salted boiling water for 9-11 min. The noodles will become pale when ready. To unfurl the fettuccine and spaghetti, gently stir.

Do not boil the lasagna. Layer the sauce, dry noodles, cheese, meat/veggies and cover the dish with foil before baking (~40 minutes, depending on fillings). The lasagna will steam. To brown top of lasagna, remove foil and put it back in the oven for 10-15 min or broil for 2 minutes.

Our pasta is made in Rochester, NY and all of our ingredients are sourced from the USA.

Rich in plant-based protein, JaziLupini is a great alternative to resource-intensive animal-based protein. Lupin is inherently pest resistant, low maintenance, non-GMO, and able to withstand difficult environmental conditions, making it a sustainable crop as opposed to soy and wheat.
